A lawsuit filed against a public prosecutor for allegedly slapping two defendants expired once he resigned from his job, the judicial disciplinary council has ruled.
The public prosecutor was accused of slapping the defendants in a Sharjah criminal case and asking prison guards to do the same.
He was also accused of forging a document to imprison the two for 24 hours because he claimed a translator was not present. However, it was discovered that a translator was in fact with him.
The Federal Supreme Court found the public prosecutor innocent of forgery but sentenced him to two months in jail for "harshness" with defendants.
In order to carry out the sentence, the case was forwarded to the judicial disciplinary council. However, the prosecutor resigned after the supreme court ruling and before the case was presented in front of the council.
During his first hearing at the council, he presented a copy of his resignation, dated April 23, 2012. As a result, the council ruled the disciplinary lawsuit against the prosecutor had expired.
