DUBAI // Two men arguing in a cafe were reported to police by an off-duty officer after he was offended by their bad language.
On August 26 last year, the Emirati corporal was at a cafe in Oud Metha when he overheard the argument and felt insulted when one of the men used bad language that disrespected religion.
“I became truly tense so I called and reported him to police,” said the 31-year-old.
Police arrived at the cafe and arrested a 27-year-old Palestinian man.
The defendant was arguing with an employee at the cafe, his friend told Dubai Criminal Court.
“Both insulted each other using bad language,” said the 27-year-old Egyptian.
The defendant was charged with disrespecting religion, physical assault and issuing insults which he denied in court.
The next hearing will be on October 9.
