Two men have been charged with vandalising a speed camera in Ras Al Khaimah.
The Emiratis, both 22, were chased by officers who saw one man step out from a vehicle, hold the device in his hand and throw it on the ground, said Col Yaqoub Al Haddad, chief of Al Digdaga police station.
The men fled the scene and removed pieces of sticky tape they had used to obscure their vehicle's number plates.
They were arrested an hour later and confessed.
The law will be tough on whoever tampers with public property, Col Al Haddad said.
