ELKHART COUNTRY, INDIANA // Norwegian electric car manufacturer Think is stepping up its push into the US market with a new factory in Elkhart County, Indiana.
Think will be pouring $43.8 million (Dh160.8 million) of its own funds into the project as well as applying to the US government's Department of Energy's Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing programme for a loan.
The company will also be eligible for state government tax breaks worth $3 million (Dh11 million). Think hopes to start shipping cars from Indiana by early 2011.
Dr Jan-Olaf Willums, the former CEO of Think Global, will be speaking in Abu Dhabi at the World Future Energy Summit on Wednesday in a forum about what is needed to make electric vehicles a reality.
