No answer: a cursed mobile number is put out of service

A cell phone number in Bulgaria has been withdrawn from service after the mysterious deaths of its last three owners. The number ? 0888 888 888 ? first belonged to the owner of a Bulgarian mobile phone company who died of cancer at the age of 48 amid allegations that he had been poisoned by business rivals. It then fell into the hands of a mafia boss, Konstantin Dimitrov, 31, who was gunned down in the Netherlands in 2003. The final owner was Konstantin Dishliev, a businessman and drug runner from Sofia, who was assassinated two years later. A decision has now been made to suspend the number for good. Callers get a recorded message saying the phone is: "outside network coverage."
