ABU DHABI // Thousands of Nissan vehicles are to be recalled after problems were discovered with the brakes and fuel gauges.
A worldwide recall of 540,000 Nissans could affect approximately 26,000 car owners in the Middle East.
The recall is due to inaccurate fuel gauges and brake pedal pins that are prone to becoming partially disengaged. Two brake pedal incidents in the Middle East and one in the US have been reported to Nissan but there have not been any injuries or deaths.
Vehicles affected by the recall in the Middle East include the 2005-2008 Nissan Titan, Armada and Frontier, and Pathfinder and Xterra vehicles produced between January and March 2006 and between October 2007 and January 2008. Also affected is the 2005-2008 Infiniti QX56, which is part of Nissan's luxury brand range.
Nissan said owners of these vehicles have been advised to take them to a dealership for an inspection and free repair work, if required.
Nissan drivers in the Middle East have also been advised to drive with the fuel gauge reading at over half-full until an inspection is made.
