DUBAI // Two men denied assaulting and robbing a cook after offering him a ride to Al Rashidiya Metro station, heard a Dubai court.
Prosecutors told the Dubai Criminal Court that Ethiopians SP, 31, and EA, 30, stopped the Bangladeshi in Al Mazhar where he was waiting for a taxi and offered him a ride in return for Dh5.
The cook, MJ, 42, accepted the offer and got in the back seat. On the way, the men stopped their car near Al Arabi Centre and grabbed the cook by his neck. One of them took his wallet while the other assaulted and restrained him before throwing him out of the car and driving off.
The victim was seen crying by a passerby who called police. A month later the defendants were arrested.
The two denied charges of theft when they appeared at court.
The next hearing will be on March 31.
