A man threatened a fashion advisor with sending people to his house to assault him and his wife, Dubai Criminal Court heard on Tuesday.
The Italian alleged victim, 54, told prosecutors that he signed an agreement with the defendant, a manager of Financial investments company, in February 2015 to invest his money in gas and oil sectors.
"I wired him 269,000 Euros and $130,000 from my account to his, and we agreed that I start receiving profits six months later," he said.
When he did not receive any profits, he asked the defendant to return his money but the accused stopped answering his phone calls, the court heard.
"I told him I will go to authorities so he simply said he doesn't care and would use any of the many passports he possesses to flee the country should I file a report with the police," he said.
In February, the man reported the incident to police after which the defendant allegedly called and threatened to cause him and his wife harm by sending people to his house if he did not drop the case.
In court on Tuesday, the Iranian accused, 48, denied a charge of issuing threats. The next hearing will be held on December 26.
