Manager cleared of stealing cooking oil has acquittal upheld in Dubai

The manager of a food company was cleared of stealing Dh205,000 worth of cooking oil has had his acquittal upheld by Dubai Court of Appeal.
In September, the 42-year-old man was cleared by Dubai Criminal Court of unlawfully obtaining goods. He had denied charges in court in July.
Prosecutors said the Indian man began working for the company in 2013 but an audit in January last year revealed forged receipts dating back to March 2015 and the incident was reported to police.

"One of the clients that we supply with cooking oil told us that they did not receive the oil listed in three receipts issued under their name, they told us they made the order by never received the products," said the company's legal consultant, 35.
The legal consultant said they discovered that the products in question were delivered to a shop in Sharjah.

The man had his acquittal upheld in Dubai this week.
