DUBAI // A 32-year-old Swedish man will spend four years in jail after being convicted of possessing and using hashish by the Dubai Criminal Court.
A R, a salesman, confessed to a charge of possessing 7.68 grammes of the drug when he appeared before judges earlier this month. He also confessed to using the banned substance.
A R was arrested on July 12 this year. Police seized a plastic bag containing hashish. A R was tested for drugs and the results came back positive.
It was not clear how police became aware of A R’s possession of drugs. He will be deported after completing of his jail term.
