DUBAI // An Arab man was arrested in possession of more than 202 kilograms of Captagon pills that he allegedly kept in a villa in Ajman.
Col Eid Hareb, director of the Anti-Narcotics Department at Dubai Police, said the 37-year-old was watched for two weeks before his arrest on January 30.
“We were studying his movements and why he kept travelling back and forth between the UAE and his home country,” he said. “We eventually found that he had rented a villa in Ajman, where he was storing large amounts of narcotic pills.
“With the help of Ajman Police, the authorities arrested him while he was in his car heading to the airport to fly back to his home country.”
The suspect was transferred to Dubai’s anti-narcotics department, where drug test results showed he had amphetamines in his blood.
Col Hareb said that the authorities found pills in the man’s car, which had secret compartments for storage. In the villa, they found four bags with more than 202kg of Captagon pills as well as drug equipment, such as scales.
He is accused of consumption, possession and dealing drugs. His case was transferred to public prosecution.

Real estate tokenisation project
Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.
The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.
Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
