Man accused of threatening to strangle baby during house robbery

A man is accused of threatening to strangle a woman's baby to death after she discovered him trying to rob her house. 
The Bangladeshi, 26, is accused of threatening to kill an Emirati woman's child after the woman woke up to find him trying to burgle her father's house, heard Dubai Criminal Court.
On November 4, the woman, 28, was woken up by the sound of movement in her father's house in Al Faqa, Dubai.
"I found [the defendant] was standing next to my bed. When he saw me wake up, he gestured that I keep quiet by pointing at his mouth," she said.
She then told him in Urdu that she had a baby and asked him to leave.
The man allegedly then threatened to choke her child to death if she screamed before he could leave the house.
"I told him that I wouldn't scream, but when he was in the living room I did scream to alert my father," she said. 
Her father woke up to the screams, but the man had already escaped through the living room window, leaving behind a fingerprint that helped police track him down and apprehend him two days later.
During police questioning, the accused admitted that he had broken in to the house to steal from it. 
He was charged with attempted theft and trespassing, which he admitted in court, but he denied a charge of issuing death threats.
A verdict is expected on January 22.
