DUBAI // A lorry driver has denied molesting an 11-year-old boy at the back of his family’s villa in Mirdif.
The Jordanian boy told prosecutors that on the morning on March 26, he responded to the door bell and found the defendant, 44, outside asking about the rent of a nearby villa.
“He then said he wanted to show me something and to ask me about it, so I headed to the back with him, where he tried to kiss me,” said the boy, who ran away and heard the Pakistani defendant yelling that he will come back for him.
The boy told his father, who called police. They advised to install a camera in case the man returns so he did and it was recording when the defendant returned at the same time a week later.
“He came back a week later but he ran away when he heard my wife’s voice,” said the father, 41.
The boy saw him from the villa’s second-floor window and told prosecutors that it was the same man.
“I told my mum that it was him, so she told my father, who called police,” said the boy.
The accused was identified through the footage and was contacted by police to attend Al Rashidiya police station. When he did, he denied touching the boy or being there at all but, when he was confronted with the camera footage, he said he was there to ask about a villa for lease.
The defendant denied a sexual assault charge.
The next hearing at Dubai Criminal Court will be on June 7.
