DUBAI // Two hospital workers who stole medical equipment worth Dh625 have had their three-month jail terms upheld by the Appeals Court.
Both workers – a nurse assistant, KM, 42, from India, and a driver MA, 45, from India – were confronted in Rashid Hospital’s car park on April 26 last year by a security guard.
The driver initially claimed he was delivering the equipment to a patient, but “kept changing his story”, according to the guard.
Prosecutors said the nurse assistant confessed to stealing the equipment and giving it to the driver to smuggle out of the hospital.
The Appeals Court also upheld a fine of Dh625 to be paid by each worker.
