A gang who stole half a million dirhams worth of money and jewellery from a house in Dibba, Al Fujairah, have been arrested.
On Tuesday, Fujairah Police revealed that three men broke into the house during the daytime, while the family was away.
The homeowner reported the burglary when he returned to his house to find his safe missing on Friday.
“The safe contained cash and jewellery valued at Dh500,000,” said Col Saif Al Zahmi, director of Dibba Police Department.
Police said they tracked down the suspects and arrested them in a neighbouring emirate within an hour.
“The gang moved to Ajman after committing the robbery and were located by the team and arrested in collaboration with Ajman police," said Col Al Zahmi.
"The stolen items along with the safe were restored,” said Col Al Zahmi.
During police questioning, the men admitted to collaborating with the house maid, who told them when the family had left.
The woman was arrested and the four accused were referred to prosecutors to face trial.
