After two fires destroyed a major portion of Abu Dhabi’s central souq situated on Khalifa street and Hamdan street in 2003, many of its shopkeepers relocated to premises nearby. It was demolished in 2005 but shopkeepers fondly remember the days when they would sell their wares to people in the open-air souq. Qudrat Ullah Malik is one such shopkeeper.
