The Ras Al Khaimah Terry Fox organising committee has presented a cheque for Dh144,116 to Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, supreme council member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.
Organisers said the money will go to the United Arab Emirates University in Al Ain for continuing Terry Fox-funded cancer research projects.
The sixth edition of the annual RAK Terry Fox Run saw the participation of more than 3,000 runners this year.
The non-competitive race that is held every year at the Al Qawasim Corniche in Ras Al Khaimah has seen growth in the number of participants, said organisers.
The presentation took place with Emmanuel Kamarianakis, consul general of Canada in Dubai and Professor Frank J Branicki, chair of the department of surgery, at the College of Medicine & Health Sciences at UAE University, in attendance.
