DUBAI // Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services responded to 1,307 call-outs during the Eid holiday, among them injuries, fainting and shortness of breath.

Khalifa bin Darrai, the company’s chief executive, said the number of reports this year is an increase on the same holiday period last year, which he said was due to an increase in the number of tourists to Dubai this year.

He added that the ambulance service received 445 reports on the first day of the Eid Al Adha, 408 on the second and 454 on the third. Of the reported cases, 853 were minor, 198 moderate and 45 severe, in addition to 211 cases which were not recorded.

In 570 cases (187 on the first day; 174 on the second; and 209 on the third) people were taken to hospital for treatment.

Most of the recorded cases were people suffering from medical problems exacerbated by heavy crowds at holiday hotspots.
