DUBAI // A new mammography unit to help detect breast cancer is to be set up at Hatta Hospital thanks to a Dh3 million donation to Dubai Health Authority by Emirates Islamic Bank.
The funds will also provide the DHA’s rehabilitation centre with physiotherapy equipment to help stroke victims.
The machine, known as a G-EO System robotic gait trainer, will provide patients with enhanced therapy.
Humaid Al Qatami, the chairman of the board of the DHA, said: “Emirates Islamic Bank has contributed to several of the Mousaadah committee’s initiatives and we are thankful to them.”
Of the Dh3m, Dh1.65m will be used to set up a mammography unit and Dh1.35 will be used to procure the G-EO trainer.
Awatif Al Harmoody, general manager of operational quality and processes at Emirates Islamic Bank, said: “Emirates Islamic is committed to supporting the community and, in particular, the development of the healthcare sector by working alongside prominent healthcare authorities in the UAE.”
