DUBAI// The chairman of du is leading by example when it comes to promoting a healthy lifestyle, coming top of his age group in a fitness competition.
Ahmed bin Byat came first in the 49 to 53 category of the Emirates Fitness Challenge.
The event aimed to promote wellness and a healthy lifestyle.
Mr bin Byat emerged successful after Emiratis were invited to compete in qualifying rounds to prove their fitness levels.
“Fitness and sports are essential for creating positive energy in our society, as well as for boosting personal health,” Mr bin Byat said. “This leads to better productivity and being able to contribute more to the development of our society.”
The Emirates Fitness Challenge is in line with the vision of Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, to show the importance of exercise, health and promoting fitness.
Mr bin Byat said the event, sponsored by du, also hoped to encourage the company’s employees to lead a healthier life.
“We offer our employees the use of our health club, provide healthy food options and hold sports activities to encourage the adoption of a healthier lifestyle,” he said.
“This month we launched our employee health programme, as part of our Every Step Counts national wellness campaign, which will see our senior management, including myself, follow a strict well-being regimen.
“My participation in this, and in the Emirates Fitness Challenge, is to set an example to the UAE of the benefits of healthier living and to promote Every Step Counts.”
