The UAE recorded 1,810 new coronavirus cases on Sunday.
This brought the country's total to 569,073. Another 1,777 people beat the virus, taking total recoveries to 548,785.
The daily cases in the Emirates rose to 2,236 on Friday – the highest daily figure since April 1 – but fell to 1,812 on Saturday.
The death toll rose to 1,677, after four people died in the past 24 hours.
There are 18,611 active cases of coronavirus in the country.
The latest cases were identified after 242,981 tests were carried out over a 24-hour period. More than 50 million tests have been conducted in the country since the start of the outbreak in January 2020.
So far, 12,756,630 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered across the country. The UAE has the highest vaccination rate in the world.
On Sunday, the UAE approved the emergency use of a new drug that can help save the lives of patients seriously ill with coronavirus.
Sotrovimab, produced by British drug maker GlaxoSmithKline, can reduce Covid-19 deaths and hospital admissions by up to 85 per cent.
The UAE is the first country in the world to both license and enable immediate patient use of the drug.
It comes after the US Food and Drug Administration gave an emergency use authorisation to the antibody treatment, state news agency Wam said.
Lab tests also showed the medicine is effective against variants of the coronavirus and can be used immediately.
WHAT IS GRAPHENE?
It was discovered in 2004, when Russian-born Manchester scientists Andrei Geim and Kostya Novoselov were experimenting with sticky tape and graphite, the material used as lead in pencils.
Placing the tape on the graphite and peeling it, they managed to rip off thin flakes of carbon. In the beginning they got flakes consisting of many layers of graphene. But when they repeated the process many times, the flakes got thinner.
By separating the graphite fragments repeatedly, they managed to create flakes that were just one atom thick. Their experiment led to graphene being isolated for the very first time.
In 2010, Geim and Novoselov were awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics.
