UAE officials announced a further 873 cases of coronavirus on Tuesday, bringing the country’s total to 25,063.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention said it had also conducted an additional 38,000 tests in the Emirates, up from the 37,844 carried out the previous day.
The new figures showed that over the previous 24 hours, 1,214 patients had recovered from the virus while three had died.
As of May 19, the UAE has recorded 10,791 recoveries and 227 deaths. Globally, there have now been 4.9 million cases of Covid-19, with 1.9m recoveries and more than 320,000 deaths.
The UAE has so far also conducted more than 1.6m tests on residents. Only one patient, out of more than 14,000 active cases, is understood to be in a serious or critical condition.
Late yesterday, authorities in the Emirates also announced that residents currently stuck abroad would be able to return to the country from June 1, provided they met certain criteria.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation said those wishing to head back must have a valid residency visa as well as family members in the country.
The UAE has also recently introduced tougher fines on those breaking restrictions designed to curb the spread of coronavirus.
Anyone leaving home without wearing a face mask risks a Dh3,000 fine and members of the public must also stay indoors from 8pm until 6am every day from Wednesday “until further notice”.
Currently, residents must stay at home from 10pm until 6am, with the exception of essential journeys, to allow the country's national disinfection programme to continue.
On Monday, authorities urged residents to celebrate the Eid Al Fitr holiday at home, blaming a recent spike in positive tests on "irresponsible” individuals who were flouting Covid-19 safety guidelines.

Where to stay
The modern-art-filled Ambassador hotel (myconianambassador.gr) is 15 minutes outside Mykonos Town on a hillside 500 metres from the Platis Gialos Beach, with a bus into town every 30 minutes (a taxi costs €15 [Dh66]). Pharaoh's curse
British aristocrat Lord Carnarvon, who funded the expedition to find the Tutankhamun tomb, died in a Cairo hotel four months after the crypt was opened.
He had been in poor health for many years after a car crash, and a mosquito bite made worse by a shaving cut led to blood poisoning and pneumonia.
Reports at the time said Lord Carnarvon suffered from “pain as the inflammation affected the nasal passages and eyes”.
Decades later, scientists contended he had died of aspergillosis after inhaling spores of the fungus aspergillus in the tomb, which can lie dormant for months. The fact several others who entered were also found dead withiin a short time led to the myth of the curse.
