An aid shipment delivering 15 metric tonnes of medical supplies has been flown into Jordan from the UAE to help doctors contain Covid-19.
Testing kits were among the equipment delivered to 15,000 medical professionals in the country.
Jordan has recorded a huge spike in reported cases, up from just 15 a day in early August to more than 1800 on October 6.
It is the second aid flight to land in the country, and follows 12.4 tonnes of medical supplies that landed in Jordan in June.
"The dispatch of the second plane of urgent medical assistance today affirms the important role played by the UAE in supporting our Arab brothers,” said Ahmed Ali Al Balushi, UAE Ambassador to Jordan.
“This is strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries based on brotherhood, common interests, and one destiny.”
The country has reported 144 deaths from 21,517 reported cases of the virus.
Mr Al Balushi said the latest shipment of aid would contribute to protecting frontline healthcare workers working to contain the pandemic.
So far, the UAE has responded to the Covid-19 crisis by providing more than 1,485 tonnes of aid to 118 countries, supporting more than 1.5 million medical professionals in the process.
