Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed said the fight against Covid-19 is a "shared responsibility" for all of society after holding talks with the Ruler of Dubai over the UAE's response to the pandemic.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid called on the public to work with authorities to help contain the virus.
The senior UAE leaders pledged that the nation is capable of overcoming all challenges posed by the outbreak.
They sent out the strong message after congratulating a newlywed royal couple on Tuesday.
Setting an example for the public, the pair delivered their wishes through a video call to avoid large gatherings due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
"Protecting the UAE during these challenging times is a shared responsibility," said Sheikh Mohamed, also the Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
"Following precautionary measures during our social events guarantees our safety as a society, and supports our country's efforts in combating Covid-19."
Restrictions on gatherings remain tight in Abu Dhabi with authorities saying formal wedding ceremonies in the capital cannot exceed 10 guests.
In Dubai, wedding receptions of up to 200 people have been permitted but similar strict safety measures remain in place.
Couples across the country have heeded calls to avoid large gatherings by organising intimate wedding ceremonies.
“While guest capacity limits have increased for wedding receptions, religious ceremonies are still limited to 25 people at our church,” said Father Ninan Panackamattam of St Thomas Orthodox Cathedral in Oud Metha, Dubai.
Dubai couple Justin George and Jubee Vargheese had planned a ceremony for hundreds of guests in India before Covid-19 struck.
But after cutting the guest list to 25 and tying the knot at St Thomas' they embraced the intimate nature of the occasion.
“If the plans went ahead as normal in India we would have had between 250 to 400 guests, instead we have 25 for the ceremony and 40 for a reception dinner," Ms Vargheese said.
“All the planning would have been arranged by an events management company in India so actually, this way it is a lot more simple and I love it.”
As of Tuesday, the UAE had recorded 127,624 Covid-19 cases since the outbreak began.
Of that number, 122,458 have recovered while 482 patients have died.
Officials have continually said the support of the public in adhering to Covid-19 safety measures - such as the wearing of masks and adopting physical distancing measures - was key to driving down infection rates and easing the pressure on the health sector.
