Security guards in Abu Dhabi will carry out temperature checks on residents and report those suspected to have Covid-19 as part of continuing efforts to contain the virus.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality has distributed 200 thermal scanning devices to security workers in residential tower blocks in Al Dana.
The guards have been educated about common symptoms of Covid-19 and briefed on who to contact to report suspected cases.
The municipality said it handed out 200 awareness brochures about coronavirus in Arabic, English, Urdu, Tagalog and Mandarin.
“This comes as part of precautionary measures to fight the spread of Covid-19,” it said.
The brochures illustrate preventive measures that need to be taken against the spread of the virus, the municipality said.
It has introduced precautionary measures for its services since the outbreak emerged, including safety regulations at slaughterhouses.
Customers have been told to remain in their cars as staff members took their orders and prepared their meat.
The municipality has also instructed Emiratis to wear gloves and masks before receiving their orders of subsidised food from the municipality.
In a post on its Twitter account, it illustrated how customers should keep safe distance from the delivery attendants.
