XYoga Dubai kicked off with a mass session led by Bollywood actress Malaika Arora and yoga mega-star Yogi Cameron.
Organisers expect about 10,000 yogis to take part in the event held at Kite Beach over the weekend.
Ms Arora and Mr Cameron are two of eight international instructors leading sessions in Dubai.
Thirty-five UAE-based instructors will also help deliver 60 programmes to participants across five distinct zones: a main stage for sessions of up to 1000 people, two yoga pods, a natural-oasis themed studio by Reebok and a dedicated Kids’ Area.
Other renown yogis appearing at the festival include:
Teresa Kay Aba-Kennedy, who will lead sessions that include Breath and Burn as well as Blissful Vibration
Healthy living blogger and author of Namaslay, Candace Cabrera Moore, who is confirmed to lead a Deep Core Strength class as well as a Yoga Nidra Guided Meditation session.
Indonesian TV-star turned yogi, Anjasmara is confirmed to lead both Vinyasa of a Grateful Heart and Candi Dasa Nectar Flow sessions
Strength and mobility yogi, Daniel Morganwill impart his knowledge through a Hands As Feet session as well as a Twist out the Tension class.
Chocolate Yoga instructor, Sjha'ra Taylor is also confirmed to deliver her signature Chocolate Yoga class.

Hydrogen: Market potential
Hydrogen has an estimated $11 trillion market potential, according to Bank of America Securities and is expected to generate $2.5tn in direct revenues and $11tn of indirect infrastructure by 2050 as its production increases six-fold.
"We believe we are reaching the point of harnessing the element that comprises 90 per cent of the universe, effectively and economically,” the bank said in a recent report.
Falling costs of renewable energy and electrolysers used in green hydrogen production is one of the main catalysts for the increasingly bullish sentiment over the element.
The cost of electrolysers used in green hydrogen production has halved over the last five years and will fall to 60 to 90 per cent by the end of the decade, acceding to Haim Israel, equity strategist at Merrill Lynch. A global focus on decarbonisation and sustainability is also a big driver in its development.

Know before you go
- Jebel Akhdar is a two-hour drive from Muscat airport or a six-hour drive from Dubai. It’s impossible to visit by car unless you have a 4x4. Phone ahead to the hotel to arrange a transfer.

The more serious side of specialty coffee
While the taste of beans and freshness of roast is paramount to the specialty coffee scene, so is sustainability and workers’ rights.
The bulk of genuine specialty coffee companies aim to improve on these elements in every stage of production via direct relationships with farmers. Because, as the boutique’s owner, Garfield Kerr, points out: “women represent over 90 per cent of the coffee value chain, but are woefully underrepresented in less than 10 per cent of ownership and management throughout the global coffee industry.”
One of the UAE’s largest suppliers of green (meaning not-yet-roasted) beans, Raw Coffee, is a founding member of the Partnership of Gender Equity, which aims to empower female coffee farmers and harvesters.
Also, globally, many companies have found the perfect way to recycle old coffee grounds: they create the perfect fertile soil in which to grow mushrooms.
