Abu Dhabi has announced the opening of a new healthcare centre focusing on Covid-19 vaccinations for children.
Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha) said the Ettihad Heroes Healthcare Centre would be in the same location as the previous Al Ettihad Centre, and be staffed by doctors and nurses from Monday to Friday, 11am until 8pm.
The centre this week began offering Covid-19 vaccinations for children aged between 3 and 16 years old.
The centre operates in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and Prevention, the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority.
“As part of Seha’s mission to ensure the highest standards of quality healthcare for all, we are pleased to announce the launch of the Ettihad Heroes Healthcare Centre,” said Dr Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, chief operations officer of Ambulatory Health Services at Seha.
“Through increasing the number of Covid-19 vaccines administered to children, we believe this will strengthen and further enhance the current efforts made by the United Arab Emirates in protecting our community and paving the road to recovery.”
When contacted a call centre agent told The National that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was available for children 12 years and over at the centre. All children between 3 and 16 years are able to get the Sinopharm vaccine.
Currently the UAE has approved the Sinopharm vaccine for children 3 years old and over, and Pfizer-BioNTech for children 5 years and over.
A significant number of children aged between 12 and 17 have already received either Sinopharm or Pfizer, which were approved for teenagers last year.
