DUBAI // A woman hit a man with a rubbish bin after he molested her in a shop, a court has been told.
Dubai Criminal Court heard that the Filipina, 32, an executive assistant, was browsing at the shop in the Raffa area of Bur Dubai when the man walked up behind her.
She said the man, a 27-year-old carpenter, touched her bottom, she said.
“I was about to buy the rubbish bin when the defendant grabbed my behind,” she said. “I immediately turned around and hit him with the bin. He ran away from the store.”
Security footage showed the man deliberately grabbing her and the court was told she identified him in a police line-up.
The defendant told prosecutors before the trial that he touched the woman unintentionally, but he was not in court on Sunday to enter a plea.
The hearing was adjourned.
