UAE Founder’s Memorial attracts 28,000 visitors since opening

More than 28,000 people have visited The Founder’s Memorial in Abu Dhabi since it opened to the public in April.

The Memorial is a permanent tribute to the country's Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed, and is a place for visitors to learn about his life, values and legacy.

The centrepiece of the memorial is The Constellation. Composed of more than 1,000 illuminated shapes, the artwork, designed by public artist Ralph Helmick, recreates a likeness of Sheikh Zayed as reflected in points of light and can be seen at any angle.

The initial unveiling in February was watched by the Founding Father's son, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, joined by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, along with other members of the Ruling Families of the UAE.

Since the memorial opened to the public on April 22, to coincide with the Year of Zayed, about 400 cultural tours have been held at the site.

Delegations from various educational and academic institutions also visited the memorial.

Located on the Abu Dhabi Corniche, the site encompasses 33,000m sq of landscaped public space.
