Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed calls for greater cooperation in food security

ABU DHABI // Food security is one of the main policy priorities and the UAE is delivering the highest possible rates for national food security and sustainability, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed said on Monday.

“Realisation of food security is a joint responsibility, starting with the individual and the family and their consumption patterns of resources and ending with interaction by the community as well as public-private sector institutions and their support for overall plans and strategies to achieve food security,” said the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces at a meeting with the Abu Dhabi Food Security Alliance at Al Bahr Palace.

He called for more efforts to increase the country’s abilities through constructive partnerships between national establishments and by launching local and foreign investment projects, encouraging scientific research on agricultural production and adopting international best practices for sustainable food security, state news agency Wam said.

Sheikh Mohammed called on the Food Security Centre Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Food Security Alliance and other stakeholders to come up with plans and programmes for training and capacity building on a par with best international human resources development in order to create a broad base of national professionals who have ability to effect change and deliver results.
