Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed met with two US senators and the Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme on Friday.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces welcomed his guests at Al Shati Palace in the capital.
On the agenda with Indiana senator Todd Young and Maine senator Angus King were talks over ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the region.
In discussions with David Beasley, Sheikh Zayed focused on the challenges of providing humanitarian assistance - including distributing food - to those in need.
The meeting was also attended by Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Co-operation, Ali Saeed Al Neyadi, Chairman of the Federal Customs Authority and Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, the Undersecretary of the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi.
