Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed has launched a search for the UAE's next generation of economic experts.
The Crown Prince of Dubai is aiming to harness the potential of bright Emirati minds in an effort to further the country's standing as a global economic hub and breeding ground for entrepreneurship.
Through the Federal Youth Authority, Sheikh Hamdan has established the Young Economist Programme, a three-month scheme which will help shape a new wave of forward-thinkers able to develop the nation's ambitious plans.
The initiative aims to equip young UAE economists with the knowledge and skills needed to become future leaders in the field and jump-start their careers in economic organisations.
“We are living in a world marked with constant challenges and change," said Sheikh Hamdan.
"It is very important to engage the youth and equip them with the competencies needed to steer the future of our economy.
"Our youth have the ability to think outside the box and produce innovative ideas and solutions for modern challenges.”
Sheikh Hamdan called on all eligible Emiratis to take advanatge of the opportunity to broaden their skills.
The Young Economist Programme boasts more than 20 partners, including local public and private sector organisations, and specialised global firms.
Applicants must be aged between 21 and 35, hold an undergraduate degree in economics or related fields and enjoy excellent command of Arabic and English.
The programme includes more than 60 training sessions, technical workshops, field visits and meetings with leading economic experts.
Entrants will also have the chance to attend local and international conferences and have access to a wide range of specialised books and reports in the field.
The project has won the backing of UAE ministers.
"The Programme helps Emirati youth unleash their potential and secure quantitative leaps across various fields by forging innovative solutions to the challenges faced in building a more solid path for economic growth and well-being," said Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology.
Shamma Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, said the initiative would help to empower young Emiratis.
The inaugural programme will feature 50 participants.
