ABU DHABI // The Abu Dhabi City Municipality has held a community meeting to improve public life in the capital.
As part of its ‘Residential District Councils’ initiative, municipal officials were joined by 30 women in Al Bahya to focus on building more schools, parks, and playgrounds for children.
The meetings are part of the municipality’s efforts to maintain the public health and improve the appearance of the capital.
Needs identified included building more government schools to accommodate the rising number of students, increasing use of recreational parks, and providing playgrounds conforming to children’s health, environment, security and safety standards.
Abu Dhabi’s government conducts a year-long education program to raise public awareness of issues that affect the public space and the role of the community in eliminating them.
Besides paying attention to suggestions and needs of residents, the council aims to educate residents and promote community values.
