More than 250 mosques refurbished in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI // More than 250 mosques were refurbished between 2012 and last year.

Renovations at 255 mosques were carried out by Abu Dhabi General Services Company, or Musanada, in coordination with Awqaf.

The annual maintenance included the addition of cooling water rooms and corrective maintenance, said Saif Al Hameli, the executive director of Musanada’s facilities management division.

“The programme includes preventive maintenance of all assets – the main building of the mosque – and equipment such as air conditioners, water dispensers. A reactive maintenance plan is developed on a 24-hour, 7 days a week basis to ensure quick response in case of any emergency,” he said.

Musanada has an online system that provides information on each mosque maintained.

In the capital, 150 mosques were refurbished, as well as 63 in Al Ain and 42 in the Western Region.
