Ministry of Interior concludes ‘No to Begging’ campaign

The Ministry of Interior concluded its “No to Begging” campaign on Saturday. The programme received positive feedback from the public through print, broadcast and online media.

“The campaign was able to communicate its main message that begging detracts from the civilised image of the UAE,” said Lt Gen Saif Al Shafar, undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior.

He praised the key role played by the Red Crescent and other charities in identifying the neediest categories of society and carrying out their humanitarian role inside and outside the UAE. He urged those who wished to donate to give money to humanitarian aid agencies instead of beggars.

Residents are asked to report beggars in Abu Dhabi by calling 999, or the Aman Service at 800 2626. In Dubai, they should call 800 243; in Sharjah, 06 563 2222; in Ras Al Khaimah, 07 205 3372; in Ajman, 06 740 1616; in Umm Al Quwain, 999; and in Fujairah, 09 205 1100 or 09 222 4411.

Real estate tokenisation project

Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.

The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.

Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
