Iraq's minister of defence, Juma Inad Saadoun, visited the Wahat Al Karama war memorial in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
Mr Saadoun was welcomed by Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoun, executive director of the Martyrs’ Families Affairs Office, at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court.
The national and cultural landmark across Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the capital commemorates all Emiratis who died in the line of duty.
Mr Saadoun attended the Guard of Honour ceremony, then laid a wreath at the Martyrs' Monument, which is made up of 31 massive aluminium-clad tablets each leaning on the other.
It signifies the unity, solidarity and mutual support that bind together the leadership, the citizens and the servicemen who protect them.
During the tour, Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoun told Mr Saadoun about the different sections in Wahat Al Karama.
Mr Saadoun also wrote a moving message in the visitor's log, expressing his utmost respect for the martyrs of the UAE.

What sanctions would be reimposed?
Under ‘snapback’, measures imposed on Iran by the UN Security Council in six resolutions would be restored, including:
- An arms embargo
- A ban on uranium enrichment and reprocessing
- A ban on launches and other activities with ballistic missiles capable of delivering nuclear weapons, as well as ballistic missile technology transfer and technical assistance
- A targeted global asset freeze and travel ban on Iranian individuals and entities
- Authorisation for countries to inspect Iran Air Cargo and Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines cargoes for banned goods
