A new sports stadium close to the UAE's Indian Ocean coast is taking shape, new images show.
Dibba Fujairah Sports Club Stadium will be able to host up to 10,000 fans and cost an estimated Dh100 million.
Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, was given a tour of the site in the Al Ras area of Dibba on Sunday.
He was briefed by field engineers and officials about the stadium’s details and the progress of the work.
"Sheikh Hamad stressed that the infrastructure projects currently being carried out in Fujairah are in line with the economic and development needs of the local community," state news agency Wam reported.
The stadium meets the requirements of the UAE Pro League and the Asian Football Confederation to host regional championships.
The emirate is home to two professional teams including Dibba Al-Fujairah Club, who will be based in the new stadium.
The club's current grounds do not match UAE Pro-League requirements so it has shared with local rivals Fujairah FC, once coached by Argentine legend Diego Maradona, in Fujairah City since 2015.
Dibba is about an hour's drive from Fujairah City so the new stadium will ensure the club's fans no longer have to trek down the coast.
The stadium appears to be bigger than previously billed. When it was first unveiled it was described as having a capacity of 9,000.
Dibba's large natural harbour has ensured the town has a place in the history books.
It was the scene of a major battle in the year 633, in the Wars of Apostasy that followed the death of the Prophet Mohammed, and was later occupied by Portuguese between 1624 and 1648.
The broader Dibba area is divided into three segments: Dibba Al-Fujairah, part of Fujairah; Dibba Al-Hisn, ruled by Sharjah and Dibba Al-Baya, which is part of Oman.

Sinopharm vaccine explained
The Sinopharm vaccine was created using techniques that have been around for decades.
“This is an inactivated vaccine. Simply what it means is that the virus is taken, cultured and inactivated," said Dr Nawal Al Kaabi, chair of the UAE's National Covid-19 Clinical Management Committee.
"What is left is a skeleton of the virus so it looks like a virus, but it is not live."
This is then injected into the body.
"The body will recognise it and form antibodies but because it is inactive, we will need more than one dose. The body will not develop immunity with one dose," she said.
"You have to be exposed more than one time to what we call the antigen."
The vaccine should offer protection for at least months, but no one knows how long beyond that.
Dr Al Kaabi said early vaccine volunteers in China were given shots last spring and still have antibodies today.
“Since it is inactivated, it will not last forever," she said.

Farage on Muslim Brotherhood
Nigel Farage told Reform's annual conference that the party will proscribe the Muslim Brotherhood if he becomes Prime Minister.
"We will stop dangerous organisations with links to terrorism operating in our country," he said. "Quite why we've been so gutless about this – both Labour and Conservative – I don't know.
“All across the Middle East, countries have banned and proscribed the Muslim Brotherhood as a dangerous organisation. We will do the very same.”
It is 10 years since a ground-breaking report into the Muslim Brotherhood by Sir John Jenkins.
Among the former diplomat's findings was an assessment that “the use of extreme violence in the pursuit of the perfect Islamic society” has “never been institutionally disowned” by the movement.
The prime minister at the time, David Cameron, who commissioned the report, said membership or association with the Muslim Brotherhood was a "possible indicator of extremism" but it would not be banned.
