ABU DHABI // Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed has posted online photos and videos of his service in the Armed Forces in the fight against the Houthis in Yemen.
Sheikh Mansoor, son of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, posted the images on Instagram earlier this week.
One of Sheikh Mansoor carrying a machine gun was accompanied by a short poem defying the enemy and praising the Arabian Gulf troops.
Another photo showed him in front of the UAE flag next to other servicemen with the caption: “We thank Allah, by His grace, the Mareb dam was liberated and the historic Balqees Throne was purged from terrorists and Arab coalition flags hoisted.”
A selfie of Sheikh Mansoor was also posted five days ago with the caption: “This is the historical Throne of Balqees reclaimed by Yemen after a battle with terrorists, whom occupied it previously by force” and the hashtag #selfieduringwar.
A video, reposted by one his followers, showed him saying: “Thank God we are here today in this beautiful area after great efforts from the men. You did well.”
Prince Nasser bin Hamad, a member of the Bahraini royal family and Commander of the Royal Guard Force, was also seen posting photos on Instagram this week.
One of them, posted two days ago, read the caption: “We return back home tomorrow after successful operations to support our brothers in Yemen. It was a deep honour to serve shoulder to shoulder with the coalition forces and the brace men of Yemen. Hoping that [the] future brings security and stability to the region.”
Another photo, posted on Wednesday, showed Prince Nasser dressed in army attire with the caption: “It feels great and unreal coming back home.”
The UAE is increasing its efforts in Yemen with humanitarian aid reaching Dh522 million thanks to its Yemen: We Care campaign.
The Government announced it was focusing on rebuilding Aden to provide safety, security and stability to the southern port city’s residents.

The rules on fostering in the UAE
A foster couple or family must:
- be Muslim, Emirati and be residing in the UAE
- not be younger than 25 years old
- not have been convicted of offences or crimes involving moral turpitude
- be free of infectious diseases or psychological and mental disorders
- have the ability to support its members and the foster child financially
- undertake to treat and raise the child in a proper manner and take care of his or her health and well-being
- A single, divorced or widowed Muslim Emirati female, residing in the UAE may apply to foster a child if she is at least 30 years old and able to support the child financially
Countdown to Zero exhibition will show how disease can be beaten
Countdown to Zero: Defeating Disease, an international multimedia exhibition created by the American Museum of National History in collaboration with The Carter Center, will open in Abu Dhabi a month before Reaching the Last Mile.
Opening on October 15 and running until November 15, the free exhibition opens at The Galleria mall on Al Maryah Island, and has already been seen at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum in Atlanta, the American Museum of Natural History in New York, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
