A share of Dh1 million is up for grabs for the winners of the Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Award for Security Research.
Organised by the secretariat general of the GCC, the topic of the 2015 award is “cyber crime in the Gulf society and how to face it”.
Col Ali Al Tunaiji, a member of the award board and representative of the Ministry of Interior’s entry, said during a meeting at the Federal Police School that half the prize money would go to organisations and the other half to individuals.
Col Al Tunaiji urged professionals at private and public universities, police colleges and research centres to take part, adding that December 31 is the deadline.
The award is intended to support decision-making in security-related issues to form the security vision in the GCC, said Col Al Tunaiji.
“The award is a key means to improve curricula and training programmes at security colleges, academies and institutes,” he said. “It also allows GCC nationals to contribute to the drafting of security and law enforcement policies in their respective countries through contributing research papers and studies.”
The award was created by the interior ministers of GCC countries, with the goal of encouraging researchers and specialists to write papers and studies that aim to boost security and cooperation in the Arabian Gulf region.
