The UAE is conducting a survey to measure the effect of Covid-19 on society.

The study, available in Arabic and English, includes 51 questions about life during the pandemic.

It attempts to identify how people have been affected by the virus as well the coronavirus' prevalence in society, by asking respondents if they know someone who has been infected.

It asks how satisfied people are with the current movement restrictions, closure of recreation and entertainment areas, offices, remote working, and distance learning and if they have been adhering to safety measures.

The survey also seeks to understand how the Emirati community has been specifically affected by the outbreak.

“The survey introduces the challenges facing Emirati community as a result of Covid-19. Has the government dealt wisely with the crisis?” said a spokeswoman for The Ministry of Community Development.

“The reality of supporting education system in the community, mechanisms for employing artificial intelligence in dealing with the pandemic, providing all the needs of individuals in society, working remotely to achieve prevention, happiness and positivity in the community, as well as providing healthcare for all the society.”

The survey highlights measures people can take to protect themselves, such as sanitising their hands, wearing masks, maintaining a safe distance from others, avoiding congested or crowds and social gatherings. It asks if the respondent has adhered to these measures and if they feel like others have been too.

It also asks about the effects of programmes rolled out by the government to fight the virus, protect people from contracting it, and enquires about harm faced by vulnerable people or businesses that have suffered as a result.

Questions also cover a respondent’s educational level, job, number of family members, children, whether they are at school or university.

It is being conducted by The Ministry of Community Development and is available to all employees of the Federal Government through “Bayanati” platform of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources.

Tips for job-seekers
  • Do not submit your application through the Easy Apply button on LinkedIn. Employers receive between 600 and 800 replies for each job advert on the platform. If you are the right fit for a job, connect to a relevant person in the company on LinkedIn and send them a direct message.
  • Make sure you are an exact fit for the job advertised. If you are an HR manager with five years’ experience in retail and the job requires a similar candidate with five years’ experience in consumer, you should apply. But if you have no experience in HR, do not apply for the job.
