ABU DHABI // Civil defence authorities have urged the public to install fire safety devices in homes to avoid summertime fires.
Captain Abdullah Al Tamimi, head of media for the General Directorate of Civil Defence in Abu Dhabi, stressed the importance of using good quality transformers and electrical connections for appliances in the home.
He also said people should have fire extinguishers in their houses and these should be properly maintained.
There have been a marked decline in house fires in recent years because of safety precautions and awareness programmes carried out by the civil defence, said Cap Al Tamimi.
