ABU DHABI // The Statistics Centre has started a wide-ranging survey into the emirate’s labour force, employment trends and jobless rates.
The “labour force and migration survey” explores demographic characteristics of the emirate’s labour force, employment status, and participation rates in economic activity.
It will also look at unemployment rates and the methods followed by job seekers to search for posts.
The survey will also shed light on the changes in the labour force over the years, provide estimates of labour migration between the regions of the emirate as well as between Abu Dhabi and other emirates.
It includes citizen, non-citizen and share households, in addition to people residing in labour camps during the year.
The survey involves 4,500 households across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Gharbia and will be conducted by 350 enumerators.
Privacy concerns have been addressed as all the data collected will be kept strictly confidential, the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi said.
The field operations will continue for about a month.
The centre called upon those included in the survey sample as well as the public to cooperate in the implementation of this project, which will provide important data for policy making and strategic planning for the benefit of all residents in Abu Dhabi.
