Fujairah Police announced on Tuesday a fifty per cent discount on vehicle confiscation fines, valid for three months.
Police said the initiative was launched to increase happiness rates among Emiratis and expats, help them be more aware of traffic regulations and to mark the Year of Zayed.
In return, violators will have to commit to not repeat the violation in the future.
The discount will be applicable only to non-hazardous offences and will be effective from July 1 until September 30, 2018.
“Such initiatives will have a positive effect and spread joy and happiness among people,” said Maj Gen Mohammed Al Kaabi, commander-in-chief of Fujairah Police.
Brig Ali Al Yamahi, director of traffic and patrols department at Fujairah Police, called on people to take advantage of the discount period to clear their accumulated traffic fines.

Real estate tokenisation project
Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.
The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.
Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
