It is the obligation of every Muslim to support the faithful by helping those who are oppressed or stopping their injustice if they are the oppressors.
“Islam has ordered for peace and stability, called for good and warned against attack and crime,” Friday’s sermon says.
“Prophet Mohammed has ordered to take the hand of the oppressive attacker to prevent the people from his damage.”
As a hadith by Prophet Mohammed says: “Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is oppressed.”
The Prophet was asked: “It is right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?” He replied: “By preventing him from oppressing others.”
This is only achieved by following the orders of the ruler, explains the sermon, “as that will achieve benefits and welfares, and push away evil and corruptions”.
One who answers the call of his country and contributes to its defence gains great rewards.
The blessings of a martyr extend beyond him to his family and relatives, as a hadith says: “The martyr has six blessings from Allah: he is forgiven from the moment his blood is first shed; he will be shown his place in Paradise; he will be spared the trial of the grave; and he will be secure on the Day of the Greatest Terror (the Day of Judgment); there will be placed on his head a crown of dignity, one ruby of which is better than this world and all that is in it; he will be married to seventy-two of al-hoor al-‘iyn; and he will be permitted to intercede for seventy of his relatives.”
