Friday sermon: ‘Be just, even with the enemy’

ABU DHABI // Justice is a basis on which the universe was created and one of the guiding principles for mankind, worshippers will be told on Friday.

The sermon will explain the role of justice in maintaining balance among various creations. “And the heaven He [Allah] raised and imposed the balance,” as a verse from the Quran says.

“This means He applies justice on Earth and orders us to be just accordingly,” explains the sermon.

Messengers and holy books were also sent to maintain justice.

As another verse says: “We have already sent Our messengers with clear evidences and sent down with them the Scripture and the balance that the people may maintain [their affairs] in justice.”

“Allah the Almighty has commanded us to act in justice as He did to His Messenger’s peace [be upon them],” continues the sermon.

Justice is required among all types of people, even if it is with the enemy. “Do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness,” says the Quran.

Another important aspect of justice is spouses being fair to one another.

“And due to the wives is similar to what is expected of them, according to what is reasonable,” says the Quran.
