Four men have been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the attempted murder of an Indian man during a robbery.
Three Afghan defendants and one man from Pakistan were found guilty at Dubai Criminal Court following the raid in February.
Prosecutors told how the gang, all aged between 20 and 27, targeted a company in Dubai's Naif area and stole Dh24,000 worth of silver items.
“Someone was knocking on the company’s door, I opened it then was gagged and stabbed,” said the 53-year-old victim, who was rushed to hospital.
Police were later able to identify the gang and arrest them. Their victim, a carpenter, underwent two lifesaving surgeries.
In court last July, the men denied charges of theft and attempted murder but were found guilty.
At their sentencing hearing last week, they were ordered to be deported after serving their prison terms.
