Flight diverted from Sharjah after smoke detected in cargo hold

An Air Arabia flight bound for Taif in Saudi Arabia from Sharjah on Thursday was diverted to King Khalid International Airport, Riyadh, after smoke was detected in the cargo compartment.

As a precautionary measure, the flight was diverted and all passengers and crew safely evacuated on landing. On inspection of the aircraft, there was no fire detected.

“The safety of our passengers and crew remains Air Arabia’s highest priority. Arrangements are being made for customers to continue their journey,” a statement from the airline read.
