The first guidelines have been produced on how the Government will provide services on mobile devices.
The guidelines cover “the security of e-government applications, planning and setting priorities, usability, user experience, content and interactive features”, the state news agency Wam said.
They were prepared by a team from the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority after a call by the Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, for a transition to m-government within two years.
The guidelines are based on international standards but adapted to the UAE’s online policies, the authority said.
The m-government executive commission held workshops on the guidelines for federal and local government staff.
Ministries and federal entities will provide feedback on the guidelines, which will then be published in Arabic and English on www.government.ae.
Mohammed Al Ghanim, the authority’s director general, said: “We are very happy with the spirit of cooperation that our partners in the local and federal government entities have shown during this process.”
