SHARJAH // A nurse who was drying clothes at her home died yesterday after falling from the balcony of her fifth-storey flat in the Rolla area in Sharjah, sources said.
The body of Shirley George, 37, of India, was taken to the Kuwaiti Hospital in Sharjah, sources said.
Police could not be reached tonight to confirm her death.
"Nobody was there when she fell," said Mr Joji Samuel, her husband. "I was at work and the children were away at school. Neighbours telephoned and informed me about the accident. I am now waiting to complete police procedures and take the body home."
A source at the Khalifa Hospital in Ajman, where she was working as a nurse, said her colleagues were aware that she had died.
"We last saw her yesterday, when she had come to work," said the source, who did not wish to be identified. "She had told us she would be visiting the church today as she had an off day. It's shocking this has happened."
