Dubai Police will soon use aerial drones to quickly respond to crimes and accidents across the city.
The force gave an overview of the project to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday.
Sheikh Mohammed said the system would be launched during Expo 2020 Dubai.
"During my visit to the Dubai Police Headquarters, we launched Drone Box, a platform to dispatch drones across Dubai to reduce response time to criminal and traffic reports from 4.4 minutes to 1 minute. The service will officially launch during Expo 2020 Dubai," he said.
"I reviewed the artificial intelligence systems that assign police patrols across Dubai without human intervention and our system of 300,000 smart and round-the-clock surveillance cameras that ensure safe living for our citizens and residents.
"Thanks to our police officers and sophisticated security apparatus, Dubai is one of the safest cities in the world. Tourists have the best travel experience, citizens and residents live in safety, and investors embark on businesses ventures with confidence in our rule of law."
The aim was to increase response times for traffic accidents and criminal acts from 4.4 minutes on average, to 60 seconds, he said.
During a tour of a Dubai Police command centre, he was shown the city's network of about 300,000 cameras, which are monitored by dozens of officers.
Sheikh Mohammed said he was briefed on artificial intelligence security patrols that "do not require human intervention".
Millions of visitors are expected at the world fair, which runs from October 1 until March 31, 2022, with security and measures to tackle the spread of coronavirus of paramount importance.

Freshly squeezed fruit juices, ground coffee beans, tea leaves and pre-prepared flavoured milkshakes do not come under the ‘sweetened drink’ band.
Products excluded from the ‘sweetened drink’ category would contain at least 75 per cent milk in a ready-to-drink form or as a milk substitute, baby formula, follow-up formula or baby food, beverages consumed for medicinal use and special dietary needs determined as per GCC Standardisation Organisation rules
